Discover the best things to do near Rexburg, Idaho. From scenic hikes and waterfalls to hidden hot springs, local restaurants, family-friendly attractions, and unique day trips. Whether you’re a local or visiting BYU-Idaho, explore what makes this area an outdoor and cultural gem.

The city of Rexburg has many things to do in it, and it is great fun, but just in the surrounding area outside of Rexburg, you have no idea how much there is to go and do and to see. Like 15 minutes away is the Sandbar in St. Anthony, as well as the huge dunes, some of the biggest and tallest dunes in North America. There is just a lot of sand in St. Anthony, haha.
But also about 40 to 50 minutes away, there is Mesa Falls, an amazing, huge, beautiful waterfall, where there have been many BYU-I-DO proposals. As well as several different hikes, like Crest Creek, R Mountain, and Table Rock. Not to mention Rigby Lake, my favorite place to go for a swim, and the twin bridges for some of the best cliff jumping in the area (all at your own risk!!!)
These places are all within a 50-minute drive radius from Rexburg, so if you have a car and want to go outside of Rexburg for some fun, pack your friends in the back. And I mean this seriously, I remember the first semester I was the only one in my friend group with a car, and we once fit in a 4 seater fit 8 people with 2 in the back. I’m not sure if that was totally legal, so do it at your own risk, but it was so much fun. And not to lie, we may have accidentally one time forgotten someone was in the trunk and went on our activity, but she called us right away, and we remembered pretty quickly and let her out. But she did not ever get back into the trunk, hahah. But that’s just a good story.
But take your car full of friends to one of the places listed above for a great time! And if you don’t have a car but are looking to have a good time, and your friends also don’t have a form of travel for all of you and your new friends, go here for activities to do in Rexburg.
