This is my favorite secret swimming hole near Rexburg, Idaho. It sits right off the Fall River bridge, about 15 minutes from town. The river moves fast here, but this one little pocket stays calm. I love jumping off the rocks into the cool water. Just know I don’t know this spot as well as some of my other favorites. So always check the water before you jump.

About This Spot
I found this spot about two or three years ago and haven’t been back in a while. It’s tucked just off the side of the Fall River bridge, out of view from the road. The rock along the bank forms a natural shelf, almost like steps down into the water. That shelf creates a calm little pocket, even though the river moves fast just upstream. Several flat rocks make great spots to sit, and there’s room for a group. I love jumping off the rocks here. Still, I’d call this more of a hidden gem than a spot I know inside and out.
Finding the Parking Spot
Getting to the parking spot can feel a little intimidating at first. Look for a small pull-out on the left side of the highway. It’s wider than the rest of the shoulder, so it’s easy to spot once you know what to look for. This is a fast road, so make sure no cars are coming before you turn. Once you’re parked, it’s a short walk down to the water — about a one minute walk, roughly 180 feet. The map below shows exactly where to park and which way to walk.
The Swimming Hole
The Fall River moves fast through most of this stretch. Right here, though, the rock shelf creates a calm little pocket perfect for swimming. The water sits around 8 feet deep in the deepest part, though that can change depending on the day. I like to jump off the rocks into the pool, but I’d recommend checking the water first. There’s a log somewhere in the water that I haven’t pinpointed exactly. Several people can fit here at once, and the flat rocks nearby make a nice spot to relax between swims.
